Stream Deck plugin — Mic Toggle

One press turns macOS dictation on or off, so you can talk instead of type. Words land wherever your cursor is, in whatever app is in front. Works on keys, dials, and the touch strip. macOS only.

Quick start

  1. Open the Stream Deck app and find PairaNoya Studios in the actions list
  2. Drag Mic Toggle onto any key or dial
  3. Press it once — macOS asks permission for Stream Deck to control System Events. Click Allow
  4. Press again and start talking. Green mic with sound lines means it's listening

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens, or a yellow triangle appears

The app in front has no Edit menu (rare: some games and utilities). Click into a normal app with a text field, then press again.

Permission got denied by accident

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation > Stream Deck and turn on System Events. If Stream Deck isn't listed, run this in Terminal, then press the key again:

tccutil reset AppleEvents com.elgato.StreamDeck
The icon disagrees with reality

Dictation ended some other way — the Esc key, or a quiet-room timeout. One extra press resyncs it.

Dictation itself is turned off

Open System Settings > Keyboard > Dictation and switch it on.

Words land in the wrong place

Dictation types at the cursor of the frontmost app. Click where the words should go first, then turn the mic on.
