One press turns macOS dictation on or off, so you can talk instead of type. Words land wherever your cursor is, in whatever app is in front. Works on keys, dials, and the touch strip. macOS only.
The app in front has no Edit menu (rare: some games and utilities). Click into a normal app with a text field, then press again.
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation > Stream Deck and turn on System Events. If Stream Deck isn't listed, run this in Terminal, then press the key again:
tccutil reset AppleEvents com.elgato.StreamDeckDictation ended some other way — the Esc key, or a quiet-room timeout. One extra press resyncs it.
Open System Settings > Keyboard > Dictation and switch it on.
Dictation types at the cursor of the frontmost app. Click where the words should go first, then turn the mic on.
Each tool keeps its help closest to home.
